PSA: A chat with my neighbor made me see old pottery differently

I was talking to my neighbor, a retired teacher, about the new finds at the Çatalhöyük site in Turkey. She said she always thought of ancient pottery as just 'old dishes', but learning they found a 9000 year old pot with a thumbprint changed her mind. It hit different because she said it made her think about the actual person who made it, not just the object. Anyone else have a simple find that changed how they think about a whole time period?
