Noticed something strange at the Cahokia Mounds last weekend

The top of Monk's Mound had these weird erosion patterns that looked like they formed faster than anyone expected, and I wonder if the drainage channels they put in a few years back are actually making things worse?

Took me a minute to come around on this but yeah, I think youre onto something. I used to just figure erosion was erosion, slow and steady, but seeing those photos from Cahokia changed my mind. Those channels might be making things worse faster than we realize.

lol great, so our brilliant fix for the mounds is basically speedrunning their destruction. guess we found a new way to mess things up faster than nature ever could.

Yeah, I've been watching that whole thing go down. Honestly the real trick is just letting them sit for a day or two before you touch them at all. If you mess with them too soon they just fall apart no matter what. I learned that the hard way after my first batch turned into a pile of crumbs. Let them set up a bit and they hold together way better.
