Used to free climb everything with a flip line, now I tie in twice and my foreman thinks I'm slow
Got chewed out on a removal in Aurora last Tuesday for taking an extra 4 minutes to set a second tie in point before I made the back cut. Back when I started climbing 11 years ago I'd just spike up, flip line around the trunk, and send it, never gave it a second thought. After watching a guy I trained with take a 20 foot swing when his lanyard cut on a dead oak limb, I don't care if it costs me time on the clock. Anybody else catch grief from their crew for being the slow safe one?
