Third close call this month with a bucket truck and a live line, now I do a tailgate every single time
Two weeks ago I was limbing a white oak in Charlotte and my boom drifted maybe 4 feet from a 7,200 volt line before my spotter yelled. Then Tuesday a guy on our crew nicked a service drop with a pole pruner because nobody walked the drop before he went up. That's three near misses in 30 days, all on trees that looked clean from the ground. I started a 2 minute tailgate talk before every climb, and we mark the drops with ribbon now. What are you all doing for line checks, or is this just how it goes when you're running behind on storm work?
