Spent 3 years cutting oak flush to the trunk before a guy in Fresno asked me why my elbows were busting out
Honestly I always thought flush cuts looked cleaner so I kept doing them on every removal in Sacramento. Then a guy I was subbing for pointed at a 12 inch oak scar from 2 summers back and asked if that callus roll was normal, and it hit me that I had been opening up every tree I touched. So now I am stuck on the fence. Half the crew says flush is fine if you are careful, half says it kills the tree slow. Where do you all land on it, and did somebody have to call you out before you switched?
