Update: the $75 clamp meter I bought to test compressor windings was a waste
I bought a clamp meter for $75 last month thinking it would help me check compressor windings faster. Turns out it only reads amps, so I still had to pull the leads and use my old multimeter for ohms. I used it on maybe three calls before it went back in the bag. For anyone doing sealed system work, spend that money on a good megohmmeter instead. The clamp meter sits in my truck now and I grab it maybe once a month for a quick amp draw. Did I miss something about how you all use these, or did I just buy the wrong tool for the job?
