TIL that the average lifespan of a modern dishwasher pump is only about 5 years. Read it in a trade journal at the supply house.

Yeah heard they're basically built to break after a few years now. Planned obsolescence is wild.

Makes me look at everything in my house differently now. My new toaster died in under two years, and my phone battery is shot after 18 months. It feels like you're just renting stuff until the next upgrade cycle hits. They don't make things to last anymore, they make them to replace.
