TIL my old way to find parts for older fridges is basically dead

For a long time, I kept a big list of local parts houses and would call around for stuff like old Frigidaire ice maker gears. About 3 years ago, I started using a specific online cross-reference tool instead. Now, I just punch in the model number and it shows me 5 suppliers with stock and prices. It cut my search time from maybe an hour down to 10 minutes. What's your go-to method for tracking down parts for units that are 15+ years old?

That shift to online tools is happening in SO many old-school trades now.

Remember when you had to call a plumber and just hope they showed up? Now you can book, get a quote, and even see a video of the clog before they arrive. My barber uses an app for appointments and my mechanic texts me photos of worn-out parts. It's like the trust factor moved from a handshake to a star rating and a digital paper trail.

But is it really about trust? The digital trail just makes it easier to hold people accountable after they mess up. Real trust still comes from the actual work they do.
