Chose between rebuilding a 15-year-old Kenmore dryer or talking the customer into a new one
Had a lady in Cedar Rapids with a Kenmore dryer from 2008 that needed a new motor and a drum bearing, parts alone around $210 and I quoted her $340 with labor. I pushed the rebuild because she loved that machine and money was tight for her, and it ran quiet for 8 months until the control board died and she had to buy new anyway for $650. Now I'm wondering if I should've just told her to put that $340 toward a new one from the start, how do you guys decide when to stop putting money into an old machine?
