Can we talk about the time I learned to check the drain pump filter first?

Had a customer in Springfield call about a washer not draining, spent an hour checking the hose and pump motor. My apprentice just pulled out a sock from the filter housing and it started right up. How many other simple fixes have I been overcomplicating for years?

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. I spent a whole weekend trying to fix my dryer because it wouldn't heat up, only to find the vent hose had just popped off the back. Felt like such a fool for not checking the easy stuff first.

My neighbor's dryer took three service calls before they found a crushed vent hose, @sandraf98. It's crazy how the simplest blockage can cause the biggest headache. You definitely aren't alone in missing the obvious fix.

A friend of mine read a whole article about dryer fires being caused by lint buildup in those flexible vent hoses. They said the accordion style ones are the worst for trapping stuff. It made me go check mine right away, and sure enough it was pretty clogged.
