A dryer vent packed with 8 years of lint almost cost me my Tuesday, and I am still mad about the call
Got called to a house in Mesa last Tuesday for a dryer that would not heat, and I figured it was the thermal fuse like always. Pulled the vent and it was packed solid with lint, I mean you could have stuffed a pillow with it, and the guy admitted he had never cleaned it in 8 years of owning the place. I spent 20 minutes clearing it and the dryer ran fine, but he argued with me about the $140 bill because he thinks I did not fix anything. Here is my hot take, half of these no heat calls are vent problems and we should charge full rate for them anyway because we are the ones crawling behind the machine. Am I wrong for quoting a flat vent cleaning fee up front now instead of eating the argument after?
