I used to be the guy who always yanked the fridge out to check the coils behind it, every single call, no matter what the complaint was. Back in 2019 a lady in Phoenix watched me do it and asked why I was dragging her fridge across new tile when the problem was a bad start relay. I did not have a good answer, honestly, I just did it because that was how I was trained. She was nice about it but she said the tech before me cracked a tile doing the same thing and she had to pay for it herself. After that I started checking what the actual symptom was before I moved anything heavy, and now I only pull a unit out if the complaint points that way or the owner says it is fine. It saves me about 15 minutes a call and my back feels a lot better at 52 than it did at 45. Any of you still pull every fridge out just out of habit, or did you change how you work after somebody called you on it?
