Unpopular opinion: the pro painter who said my roller marks were 'fine' set me back 3 months
Two summers back I painted my garage door in Denver with a 3/8 inch nap roller and it looked great for about 6 weeks. By fall the texture showed through the topcoat like goosebumps and I had to sand the whole thing down and start over with a 1/4 inch cover. Here's the debate: was he right that it would smooth out on its own, or should I have just redone the first coat on day one? Curious what the painters on here would have done.
Man that stings, 3 months of your summer gone over a roller nap. Been there with a fence and it never did "smooth out on its own", the texture just sat there taunting me until I redid it. Sanding a whole garage door sounds like my own personal nightmare.
