TIL most fans love the soundtrack for Your Name, but it didn't hit for me...
I played it on my delivery routes and it just felt flat... Maybe my taste is off, but I don't get the big deal.

On my daily commute, the Your Name soundtrack felt like elevator music. I revisited it late one night with my eyes closed, focusing on the string sections. Tracks like Sparkle actually gave me chills without the road noise. Now I only listen to film scores when I can give them full attention.

Yeah and that's the thing about soundtracks, they're built for a specific moment. Listening to it alone in your car is a totally different vibe than hearing it swell during the movie's big scene. I see this all the time, where something made for one setting just falls flat in another. It's like hearing a joke without knowing the story first, it just doesn't hit the same way.

Give it a listen late at night when you're not driving. I mean, soundtracks need the right mood to hit hard. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I had the same thing with another album. Playing it during work made it feel like background noise. Try putting it on when you can really focus, like with your eyes closed or something. The music might click then because you're not split between driving and listening.
