The subbed episode that made me drop a show 40 minutes in

Last Thursday I was finally catching up on that mecha series everyone kept hyping. Got to episode 7 and the translation was so bad I literally paused it to check if I was watching a fansub from 2006. Character names kept switching, subs said 'yield' when the guy clearly said 'retreat', and one line cut off mid-sentence. I closed the tab and haven't opened it since. Do you guys normally push through rough sub quality or just walk away? I'm on the fence if I'm being too picky.

Wait, were you watching the official stream or a fan site? Because that sounds more like a bad fansub than an official release. Honestly, if names are switching up and lines are cutting off, that's not normal even for crunchy subs, that's like someone rushed it through a bad auto-translate. I usually give official subs a pass on one or two awkward lines, but if it's every other scene, I'll just switch to the dub or wait for a better group to pick it up. You might be too picky if it's just one clunky word, but missing half a sentence is a legit reason to bail.
