Dubbed vs subbed for slice of life shows, subs win every single time

I used to be a hardcore dub watcher because I like to knit while I watch, but last month I finally sat down with Kaguya-sama in Japanese with subs and it completely changed my mind. The comedic timing in the original language is just unbeatable, like the puns and the voice actor's delivery of 'O kawaii koto' hits so much harder than any English equivalent. I tried going back to the dub for season 2 out of habit and the jokes fell flat, the characters sounded like they were reading a script instead of actually bantering. It took me about 4 episodes to adjust to reading subs while knitting, but now I can't go back. For action shows I can see the argument for dubs since you're looking at explosions anyway, but slice of life lives and dies on vocal nuance. Has anyone else had a similar switch for a specific genre, or do you think I'm just being a sub elitist now?
