Was skeptical about Spotify's algorithm knowing my music taste better than I do... 6 months later and I'm kinda creeped out
I fought against letting the Discover Weekly playlist run my music choices for months, but after it recommended a deep cut from a band I loved in high school that I hadn't heard in like 10 years, I gave in. Now I'm wondering if anyone else feels like these algorithms are just a little too good at reading us, or am I overthinking it?

Oh come on, that's a little dramatic lol. Spotify's just good at connecting dots based on what you listen to, it's not actually reading your mind.

My friend Sarah had this moment where Spotify randomly played a lullaby version of a song her mom used to sing to her as a kid, and she hadn't even told anyone about that memory. She called me freaking out because she'd never searched for it or played anything close to it on any device. It was just sitting there in her brain for like 20 years and the algorithm somehow pulled it out. She ended up crying in her car because it reminded her of her grandma who passed away. Now she's convinced the app is secretly a mind reader and I'm not sure she's wrong.

Got me questioning if my phone knows me better than I do and honestly that's not a high bar.
