Old school panel had me stumped for 8 hours in Greenville

Ran a service call on a 90s era Ademco panel last Wednesday. Customer said keypad dead, figured power issue. Turns out someone had jumped the transformer terminals wrong, cooked the board. Took me 8 hours total because I kept checking wires first, not the actual board. Anyone else waste a full day on a panel that old before checking the obvious?
