Learned that 1 in 4 break-ins happens through an unlocked door, and I can't stop thinking about it
Was reading through a stats page from the National Council for Home Safety last night and one number hit me hard: about 25% of home break-ins happen through doors that weren't even locked. I've been installing panels for 6 years and I always push sensors and cameras, but that stat made me realize I barely talk to customers about the basics like just locking up. Now I've started adding a quick line about it during every walkthrough. Has anyone else seen that number or got a good way to bring it up without sounding like a nag?
Try a gentle "hey before we get into the fun stuff, let's make sure the basics are covered" and then mention the 25% stat casually. Framing it as free protection that costs nothing usually lands way better than sounding like you're lecturing them.
