The hot glue trick for safety wire that saved my knuckles last Friday

After fighting a #4 safety wire on a Cessna cowl latch for 20 minutes in the hangar at KBFI, I dipped the wire end in hot glue, twisted it tight, and the wire stayed put perfectly, so has anyone else tried using a dab of adhesive to hold stubborn wire while you get the pliers set?
