My air fryer almost caught fire last Wednesday from a cheap liner

I bought a pack of those disposable parchment liners off Amazon for like 6 bucks. Last Wednesday I was cooking some frozen fries at 400 degrees and when I opened it up the liner was all black and curled up on one side. The thing damn near melted onto the heating element. Has anyone else had those cheap liners go bad on them or did I just get a bad batch?

Those Amazon liners are basically just wax paper pretending to be tough. I bought a pack too and my fries came out tasting like a campfire. The good news is you probably got free non-stick coating on your heating element now. Maybe spring for the name brand ones or just use nothing at all. Air fryers are just tiny convection ovens, they don't need a diaper.

Why do cheap liners always seem like a good idea until you're standing there with a fire extinguisher and a half-cooked dinner? I had a similar thing happen with a toaster oven liner back in 2018, swore em off ever since. @ray356 is right about the name brand thing, I just use foil now and call it a day. Actually I still got a burn mark on my counter from that toaster oven incident, wife brings it up every time I try to buy something off Amazon.

Did you at least get a good story out of it @michael669? Mine’s still on the ceiling.
