Talking to my neighbor about his old photo albums made me rethink AI upscaling

I was chatting with Mr. Chen, a retired photographer from down the street, and he showed me some scanned photos from the 1970s that were all grainy and faded. He told me he prefers the blurry look because it feels more honest than the sharp, polished versions AI tools spit out. Has anyone else had a conversation that made you step back and question whether we really need to 'fix' everything with technology?

Actually I think zooming in too much with AI kind of misses the point of those old photos. They capture a moment with all its flaws and that's what makes them feel real, not the fake perfect look lol.

Yeah "capture a moment with all its flaws" really hits it. That grainy blurry stuff IS the vibe, trying to clean it up just makes it look like a fake stock photo.
