PSA: I paid $89 for an AI 'resume optimizer' and it gave me the exact same resume back with a new font
So about a month ago I was applying for a dispatcher job and kept getting auto-rejected, and I figured maybe a computer could beat the other computers. I found this site that said it used AI to rewrite your resume for any job posting, and it felt worth the $89 one-time fee at midnight. Long story short, all it did was swap my font, bold three random words, and add a 'Summary of Qualifications' section that just repeated my own bullet points back at me. I ran the before and after through a free checker and the match score went up 4 percent, which I'm pretty sure was just from the bolding. I tried to get a refund and the support email bounced back. I know some of these tools actually do something, but this one was straight up a template with a chatbot on top, and I'm out $89 and two evenings. Has anyone found a resume tool that genuinely changes your wording instead of just moving it around? Or is this whole category mostly smoke?

Man, that stings. $89 for a font swap and some bold words is basically a scam with a login page. Been burned by stuff like that before too, so you're not alone in feeling dumb about it, even though you shouldn't.
