Found out my 6 row planter wastes about 2 acres of seed a season

A retired Deere tech at the farm show in Boone told me worn seed discs drop doubles on the outside rows and most guys never check them. Pulled mine last week and two discs had grooves you could feel with a fingernail, anyone else swap discs on a schedule or just wait for a skip?
