Spent $80 on a used dehumidifier for my basement and it ruined my whole weekend

I bought a used dehumidifier off a guy in Council Bluffs for $80 three weeks ago because my basement smelled like a wet dog. Got it home, ran it for two days, and it leaked all over the floor because the drain hose was cracked and I never checked it. Ended up pulling up soaked cardboard boxes full of my dad's old tax records at 11pm on a Sunday, which is exactly the kind of thing I did not need to be doing. The guy won't answer my texts now and honestly I don't blame him. Anyone got a brand that actually holds up or should I just buy the $20 buckets of damp rid and call it a life?
