Had to tell my boss no on overtime 3 days in a row and I'm done feeling guilty about it
Last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday my manager kept asking me to stay late at the office in Portland, and I finally just said no each time. Has anyone else hit a wall where your own free time matters more than being the reliable coworker?

Is your boss even paying you enough to feel bad about this?

Take that guilt and channel it into a reasonable request for a raise instead. Ruby's got a point. If you're losing sleep over a minor mistake while your paycheck barely covers rent, you're giving away free emotional labor. My last job had me stressing about a spreadsheet error for three days. Then I realized my boss was on a two week vacation in the Bahamas the same week. The numbers don't care about your guilt. The company will keep moving whether you feel bad or not.
