Capsule wardrobes get all the hype, but I found freedom in a curated closet system

I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but focusing on versatile pieces I love beats following a strict number. Learning to tailor my own clothes made each item feel intentional, not just minimal.

I mean at this point we might as well start a spreadsheet with pie charts. My version of a personal uniform is just my same three jeans that finally fit right after I learned to take up the hems, and like five tops that don't have weird sleeve lengths anymore. Maybe the real freedom is just not spending twenty minutes deciding if an item 'sparks joy' before coffee.

Feel like the strict number is what actually frees up my brain, lol. Having that 30 item seasonal rule means I never stand there staring at a full closet. Different strokes I guess.

Totally get the tailoring thing, it changes how you see everything you own. @the_leo has a point with the number rule for mental space, but for me it was about nailing a personal uniform so everything just works without counting.

That point about tailoring changing how you see everything... it's more about how things actually fit, you know? A personal uniform helps, but if the pieces don't fit right, it still feels off. Tailoring's the foundation before you even get to the counting or uniform part.
