Why are we still torching ourselves with hot rivets in 2023?

High-strength bolting achieves the same structural integrity without the burn hazards and time sink.

Is it really still that widespread though? Most structural steel went to bolted connections decades ago, except for some historic restoration or very niche applications. The original post makes it sound like every jobsite is full of rivet furnaces, but that hasn't been true for a long time.

Thought riveting was still widespread. @garcia.laura's comment made me realize bolts took over decades ago.

Had the same wrong idea until Laura's comment... bolts really did take over way back.
