Spent $60 on a fancy coffee scale and it messed up my pour over routine for 2 weeks

I got this Acaia scale because everyone online said it was essential for consistent brews, but the auto-timer feature kept kicking in at the wrong moment and I dumped grounds everywhere. Has anyone else regretted buying gear that just adds more steps?

Oh man, my buddy bought one and it just confused him more than anything.

Three weeks in with his, and he still couldn't tell if it was helping or just making him overthink every little thing. Did he ever figure out if the constant feedback was actually useful or just noise that got in his head? Sometimes more data just makes you doubt your own instincts, you know?

Wait, are you saying more precision actually made your coffee worse? Look at it this way - before the scale, you were probably eyeballing everything and getting wildly different results every day. Now you're forced to actually pay attention to what you're doing. That auto-timer thing? Just turn it off in the settings and use it manually for a week. I had to unlearn all my bad habits when I got mine, and yeah it sucked at first, but now I can actually repeat that perfect cup I had last Tuesday instead of chasing ghosts. Your pour over routine was probably already messed up, you just didn't know it yet.
