The block-wide yard sale taught me about stuff we keep
My whole neighborhood did a yard sale last month. I saw piles of things folks never really used. It dawned on me how much extra stuff we hold onto for no reason. Now I'm more careful about what I buy and keep. Do you find yourself wanting less clutter too?

Oh man, what does she do with all the stuff she gets rid of? I did a big closet clean-out last spring and it felt amazing at first. But then I had three giant trash bags of clothes just sitting in my hallway for a month, waiting to be donated. It was like a weird monument to my good intentions that I had to walk around every day.

Ugh, the donation bag purgatory is the worst! It totally ruins the clean closet high. My hallway looked exactly like that last year, just a sad wall of garbage bags. @the_elliot, my friend Marie did the same thing and her bags sat in the trunk of her car for weeks! It makes you feel guilty every time you see them, which is the opposite of the point.
