Just realized my grandpa was right about painting trim brushes
Ngl, my grandpa always told me to spend good money on a quality brush for trim work. I ignored him for years and used those cheap $2 foam brushes from the hardware store. Finally caved and bought a nice Purdy brush for $18 after messing up the trim in my living room. The difference is night and day with how smooth the paint goes on and no brush marks. Now I'm kicking myself for not listening to him sooner. Anyone else have a relative who gave solid diy advice you wish you took earlier?

My dad was the same way but with caulk. He'd go on and on about getting the good stuff and using the right size tip. For years I'd just grab whatever was cheapest and my bathroom looked like a mess every time. Finally used the expensive stuff on my kitchen backsplash and it was like magic. Now I'm wondering what other advice I ignored that probably would've saved me a ton of headache.

$18 for a Purdy brush feels like a lot when you're standing in the aisle, but after ruining one too many trim jobs with those cheap foam ones that shed little fibers everywhere, I finally got one myself. Now I'm mad at how much time and paint I wasted before. Grandpa definitely knew what he was talking about, that brush just lays the paint down perfectly with zero streaks.
