My laptop charger died in a tiny town in Portugal
I was in Ericeira last month, right in the middle of a deadline. My charger just sparked and stopped working. The only electronics shop in town had one universal adapter for 45 euros, which was way overpriced, but I had no choice. I bought it, finished my work at a cafe, and ordered a proper replacement online that night. Has anyone found a good, durable universal charger they actually trust?

Seth_shah is right about the gamble, my universal charger is basically a fire hazard I keep in my bag. I bought it in a panic at an airport once and it gets weirdly hot. I should probably just get a real one.

Ugh, this is so true... it's like we've all accepted that half the stuff we buy is just going to be bad. That cheap toaster that only browns one side, the phone cable that dies in a week... we just shrug and buy another one. It feels like everything is made to be thrown out now, so why would a charger be any different. Makes you not want to buy anything.

Universal chargers are a total gamble." I just stick with the official one for my laptop now.
