My client's 3 AM feedback made me rethink how I present concept art
Honestly, they said 'your piece is too clean, show me the messy sketch layer under it' and now I always include a process shot in my portfolio, has anyone else had a client ask for something that totally flipped your showcase style?
Rethink who actually owns the sketch layer before you post it. Everyone in that thread is talking about how to show process, but nobody is asking if your client is okay with that messy version going public. That early layer is where you dump bad ideas, rough shapes, stuff you would never put your name on. Now it lives in your portfolio forever. Some clients love the behind the scenes look. Others get weird about it because they paid for the polished result, not the ugly road to get there. Keep a private version for clients and a cleaned up process shot for the public one.
