I used to roll my eyes at the 'one in, one out' rule for clothes

My friend in Denver swore by it, but I thought it was just more clutter advice noise. After my closet door wouldn't shut last month, I forced myself to follow it for a full 30 days and actually kept it up. Did anyone else have a rule they doubted that ended up working?

My Denver cousin got me on the ten-minute tidy-up rule.

How's that ten minute rule working for you, @danielnelson? I tried something like that but I always get sidetracked... end up organizing one drawer for an hour.

Yeah, the "one in, one out" rule sounded so strict to me, like I was punishing myself for buying a new t-shirt. I finally tried it after I had to shove my closet door closed. Brought home a new sweater last week, and I actually looked for an old cardigan I never wear to donate. It felt less like a mess and more like a real closet that works. I'm honestly surprised it stuck.
