The DMV clerk who told me to stop arguing with strangers online
Last month in Austin I was stuck at the DMV for 3 hours waiting on a title transfer. The clerk, this older guy named Ray, glanced at my phone screen and saw me typing out a heated reply to someone on a forum. He said "you ever notice the people you fight with online never change their mind, but they do get your blood pressure up?" That hit me harder than it should have. Now I read comments twice and ask myself if I'm posting to learn or to win, and lately I skip the reply button altogether. Has anyone else had a random stranger's throwaway comment actually shift how you post here?
