Question about choosing between fixing my old bike or buying a used one from a guy in Fresno
I had a real fork in the road last week when my rear wheel on my 1998 Trek started wobbling bad on the way to work. My buddy Dave offered to sell me his spare bike for $150, or I could dump about $90 into a new wheel and tune-up at the shop on Van Ness. I went with the repair because the frame still fits me perfect and I hate throwing out good stuff. Two days later the shifter cable snapped on the same ride home, so I'm now $90 in with another $40 coming. Should I have just grabbed Dave's bike, or is fixing the old one still the smarter call?
