Just read that a single raindrop can contain a speck of dust from the Sahara
Found that in a nature article, and now I'm picturing a tiny desert vacation in every storm. Anyone ever stumble on a fact that made you see something totally normal in a weird new way?

Read about how all the gold in the world could fit into three Olympic swimming pools. Makes my wedding ring feel absolutely ridiculous now, like I'm walking around with a concentrated chunk of an entire pool strapped to my hand. Totally ruined the idea of gold being some rare, special thing when you picture it as just a couple of puddles. Now every piece of jewelry just looks like a splash from the billionaire's pool party.

So what makes something rare then, if not the amount?

But have you thought about how hard it is to actually get that gold? Sure it fits in pools, but you need to move thousands of tons of earth for one ounce. That ring isn't just a splash, it's the end result of insane human effort pulled from the whole planet.

Honestly used to think of dust as just annoying house stuff. Now I can't help but see a rain shower as this whole global delivery system for tiny desert bits. Makes a simple storm feel way more epic, like the whole planet is mixing itself together.
