Ran a small test on my portfolio site's about page and the contact form went from 1 hit a week to 6
Swapped my third person bio for a first person one with an actual photo of my messy desk, took about 20 minutes on a Tuesday. Six inquiries in 9 days after months of almost nothing, and the only other thing I changed was adding one line about who I don't work with. Has anyone else seen a jump like that just from dropping the corporate voice?
Six inquiries in 9 days is nuts for just swapping out some bio text. I did the same thing on my site back in March, dropped the "we are a company that values quality" junk and just wrote like I talk, and my reply rate on emails went from like 1 in 10 to 1 in 3. People can smell fake from a mile away, so a real photo and plain words do way more than any fancy copy ever will.
