Showerthought: cutting curly hair dry vs wet, I think most of us got it backwards in school
I sat through a 4 hour curl cutting class in Dallas back in March and the teacher had us cut every model soaking wet, which is what I did for my first 3 years behind the chair. Then a client with 3b hair showed me pics of what her last stylist did dry, curl by curl before washing, and the shape held way better after 2 weeks. I get why wet cutting is easier to teach, everything is smooth and you can see the line, but on real curls it springs up 3 inches and you lose half the shape you planned. So which side are you on, wet cut for the clean line or dry cut for the actual shape, and has a client ever called you out for it?
Cut mine dry for years now and never going back. Wet cutting hides everything til it dries and then the client is mad at the shape. Do the dry cut first to get the shape right, then wash and fine tune the ends wet if you need to.
