The day my car battery died at a rest stop in Utah, the stranger who helped was a retired mechanic
Last Tuesday I was driving through Utah on I-70 when my engine just quit near the Green River exit. I sat there for 20 minutes with no cell signal, and this older guy in a pickup pulled over and asked if I needed a jump. He popped my hood, found the corroded terminals in under a minute, and cleaned them with a soda can he had in his truck. He refused the $20 I offered and just said 'pay it forward sometime.' I've been skeptical of random kindness stories on here, but that exact breakdown and his fix has me wondering, how often do we ignore the simple fixes in our own lives because we expect something bigger to go wrong?

Yeah that tracks. Had the same thing happen once with a loose gas cap, car was sputtering for two days before some guy at a gas station just twisted it and said "try now." Felt like an idiot but also kind of grateful. Simple stuff sneaks up on you.
