Overheard a spec on the phone that made me put my trowel down
Sitting at the supply yard in Tulsa last Thursday, I heard a contractor telling someone to pour a 4 inch slab for a driveway that'll see a loaded dump truck every day. He kept saying the local code inspector wouldn't check the subgrade prep or the rebar spacing, so they could save $1,800 per pour. I didn't say anything, but I've seen that kind of shortcut crack a slab in 6 months flat, has anyone else walked away from a job like that or do you call it in?
