Finally changed my mind about car covers after a talk with a buddy
I used to think car covers were a waste of money. Always figured they just trap moisture and scratch the paint. Then last week my buddy Mike who restores Mustangs told me I was doing it all wrong. He said the key is getting a breathable cover with a soft inner liner. Not those cheap plastic tarps you see at auto parts stores. He showed me his 67 Fastback that he keeps covered in his garage in Phoenix. The paint still looks mint after three years under the cover. Now I'm thinking about getting one for my 74 Challenger that sits in the driveway. Anyone have good luck with a specific brand that won't break the bank?
Wait, he keeps it in the garage AND uses a cover? I always figured a covered car in a garage was overkill, like wearing a raincoat indoors. But a 67 Fastback with mint paint after three years is hard to argue with, I guess your buddy really knows his stuff.
Got a cover from Covercraft for my 95 Firebird that sits outside. Best money I ever spent. Paint still looks good after two winters and it doesn't turn into a swamp underneath.
