The swap meet guy who made me rethink original parts
Ngl, I spent 12 years chasing numbers matching parts for my 69 Torino, drove 200 miles to a swap meet in Bakersfield last month for a rare intake manifold. The old timer selling it pointed out my factory setup was worth less than a good aftermarket one because my block was already bored 30 over, so originality didn't matter anymore. He showed me his own car running a rebuilt crate engine and it hit me that restoring the car I actually drive is better than preserving a museum piece, so has anyone else switched from all original to performance parts after a similar reality check?
