My neighborhood's famous mural got painted over on a Tuesday and I think the new gray wall is actually better
Everyone in Fairview has been mourning the whale mural on the side of the old laundromat on 3rd Street since it got covered up in a flat gray coat about 3 weeks ago. I walked past it every day for 6 years and honestly the gray makes the whole block feel calmer and less like a tourist photo op. The mural was peeling bad near the bottom and had a tag on the whale's tail nobody ever fixed, so I'm not sure what we're all pretending we lost. Does anyone else here actually prefer a plain wall over public art, or am I the only one who thinks this?
