Bought a $300 'professional' mandoline that's basically a safety hazard

I saw it online and thought the extra cost meant better quality and safety, but the blade guard is flimsy and the grip is terrible. I nearly took the tip of my thumb off prepping onions last service, and now it just sits in a drawer. What's a mandoline you actually trust in a busy kitchen?

That drawer is now its permanent safety guard, honestly.

Right? Like, what's the point of a guard that's easier to lose than the blade itself? Mine lives in a mug now.
