Thought a $12 rice cooker from the thrift store was junk, turns out it beats my old $60 one
Found a little 3-cup rice cooker at the Goodwill on Market Street last month for $12. I almost walked past it because my last cheap one burnt rice every single time and I figured this would be the same story. Gave it a shot anyway since it was half off that day, so really it was $6. First batch came out perfect, fluffy, not a single crunchy grain stuck to the bottom. I have made rice in it 14 times now and it has not messed up once. Been using it for oatmeal too, throw in oats and water before bed, hit the switch in the morning, done in about 10 minutes. My old cooker cost five times as much and I hated it. So now I am wondering what other cheap kitchen stuff I have been sleeping on. Has anyone else found a thrift store gadget that just flat out works better than the fancy version?
