My buddy laughed at my $1.25 lentil pot and now I make it every Sunday
Last winter my friend Dave watched me dump a whole bag of lentils into a pot and asked if I was feeding a church group or just broke. I brushed it off, but he had a point about one thing: I was dumping in way too much water and boiling them to mush. Now I use 3 cups of water per 1 cup of lentils, toss in a bouillon cube and whatever sad veggies are in the fridge, and it comes out thick and good for about $1.25 a pot. Anyone got a trick for keeping lentils from turning into paste without babysitting the stove?
