Took me 11 trips to figure out how to pack the van for camping
I used to pride myself on being the quick packer. Grab the tent, toss in sleeping bags, coolers last, done in 30 minutes. But every single camping weekend, something got buried or left behind. Last spring at Baker Lake, I spent 45 minutes digging for the coffee pot while the kids watched me lose it. That was trip number 8.
Turns out my whole system was backwards. I kept putting the stuff we needed first at the bottom. Now I pack in reverse order of when we'll use it, and I keep a checklist taped to the inside of the rear door. Trip 11 was the first one where we had zero unpacking drama at 9pm in the dark. Still took me two more trips to remember the extra batteries for the lantern, but that's a separate story.
Has anyone else had a dumb basic problem that took way too many attempts to crack, or is it just me who needed a decade to learn common sense?
