The $220 'smart' coffee maker that ended up as a doorstop

I bought one of those fancy wifi coffee makers last spring because I loved the idea of brewing from bed. Turns out the app needed updates every week and the timer reset whenever the power blinked, which happened a lot in my apartment in Austin. After three months of fiddling and burnt morning coffee, I went back to my $12 French press and honestly it's faster and cleaner. Anyone else ditch a gadget for the dumb simple version and feel relieved about it?
