TIL the janitor at the Daytona Beach condo job was right about stretching, 3 rooms ripped out over it
Working a 12 unit condo building on A1A back in April. Humid as a wet sock. I laid 3 bedrooms without a power stretcher because my knee kicker was doing fine, or so I thought. Old guy named Ray who did floors there for 20 years watched me for a bit and said "that carpet's gonna ripple by July, I've seen it a hundred times." Told him thanks but I've been doing this 11 years. Six weeks later the manager calls me back. All 3 rooms wavy as the ocean out the window. Cost me 2 days and about $400 in replacement. Now the kicker only comes out for closets. What's your cutoff for grabbing the stretcher, room size or just gut feeling?
